About Rice Knowledge Bank, Assam
To bridge the gap between research and practice in rice production, the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), in collaboration with the Government of Assam, Assam Agricultural University, and the Assam Agribusiness and Rural Transformation Project developed the Rice Knowledge Bank, Assam (RKB, Assam)—a digital extension service that provides practical knowledge solutions, specialized for small-scale farmers for the state of Assam.
RKB showcases rice production techniques, agricultural technologies, and best farming practices based on IRRI’s and AAU’s pool of knowledge from research findings, learning and media resources, and in-country projects.
To facilitate easy access to information, RKB Assam highlights the step-by-step Production Stages from pre-planting to postproduction management, Decision Tools, and Agronomy Guides to help people make informed farming decisions.
RKB Assam serves to address the biggest challenge to agricultural development by supporting fast and effective transfer of technologies from the research laboratory to the farmer’s field.
Assam Agribusiness and Rural Transformation Project (APART) is focussing on promotion of climate resilient technologies, market led production, processing of prioritized agriculture and allied commodities, investment opportunities, agri-entrepreneurship development, market intelligence, credit linkage by adopting value chain and clusters approach. The project is an initiative of Assam Rural Infrastructure and Agricultural Services (ARIAS) Society, Govt. of Assam, which is an apex state level agency for coordinating and monitoring World Bank aided projects mainly in the agriculture, agribusiness and rural development domains. Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat and Department of Agriculture, Assam are the implementing partners under APART and International Rice Research Institute is the technical partner for Rice related activities.
